President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday asked concerned government agencies to address the reported delays in the processing of Covid-19 swab test results for returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
During his televised address, Duterte said test results should be released ASAP.
“It has come to my attention that the swab test result of OFW is three days delayed. Whatever is causing this delay must be addressed immediately,” according to the Chief Executive.
“No amount of lockdown and no amount of police power can stop a Filipino citizen from going home. Saan mo [sila] patirahin? At saka ‘yang swab, bilis-bilisan ninyo,” he added.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana explained that the recent “massive infection” in the Philippine Red Cross disrupted the processing of swab samples.
“Sinalo ito ng mga government hospitals and I think it’s already back to normal ngayon ‘yong pag-swab,” he also said.
