Despite additional restrictions, MalacaƱang said gym and spa service businesses are still allowed to operate in Metro Manila and provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.
On Sunday, the government placed the areas mentioned above under one bubble setup, prohibiting mass gatherings and non-essential travel from March 22 to April 4.
“Tuloy po ang operation ng mga gyms at mga fitness centers sa Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna at Rizal,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing Monday.
Gyms may operate up to 75 percent capacity while spas are capped at 50 percent capacity, according to Roque.
The Palace official, however, said it still depends on the local governments to decide on the opening of these establishments in their areas.
“Ito po ay naka depende rin sa inyong lokal na pamahalaan, kung sila’y naglalabas ng ordinansa na nagsususpinde nito tulad ng lungsod Quezon na wala munang gyms, fitness centers at spas,” he added.
