LGUs can enforce COVID tests for Holy Week visitors: Palace

By Prince Golez

Provinces can require travelers to undergo coronavirus (Covid-19) testing upon arrival, MalacaƱang said.

This, after League of Provinces of the Philippines president and Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco Jr. appealed to the government’s Covid-19 task force to allow the screening of passengers returning to their home provinces for the Holy Week.

Last month, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases issued Resolution No. 101 removing mandatory testing and quarantine as travel requirements.

Local governments, however, still have the discretion to impose testing on visitors.
