The House of Representatives has approved on second reading a measure declaring May 8 as a special working holiday to honor drivers of public utility vehicles.
The proposed Public Utility Vehicle Drivers’ Day Act (House Bill 8915) was approved via voice voting.
Aside from holiday declaration, the measure directs the Department of Transportation to study the adoption of a private car-less day and other similar activities to encourage the use of public transportation and reduce the number of private vehicles on the road during the PUV Driver’s Day.
