More time to write: Leonen extends sending of 2021 bar letters of intent until April 8

Supreme Court (SC) Justice Marvic Leonen has given more time for institutions to show their interest in becoming testing centers for the upcoming bar examinations that will be held this November.

In his latest bar bulletin dated March 30, Leonen, the chairperson of the 2020/21 bar examinations, explained he made the move since Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal have been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the rise in the COVID-19 virus cases.

“As such, and to give other institutions more time to consider joining this historic endeavor, the period for sending letters of intent is extended to April 8, 2021, Thursday,” he said.

“In the meantime, submitted letters of intent will be processed in the order in which they were sent,” he added.

Leonen disclosed that he has so far received 20 letters of intent.

“These prospective testing centers are spread throughout the archipelago, which will enable Bar candidates to substantially reduce their expenses for taking the examinations,” he noted.

This year’s bar examinations will be the first time that it will be held digitally.
