No add’l cash aid amid PH unemployment rate: Palace

By Prince Golez

The government is not looking at providing financial assistance to address the country’s unemployment problem, Malacañang said Tuesday.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, four million Filipinos were jobless in January 2021 as the business sector struggles to cope with the coronavirus crisis.

“Hindi pa po kasama sa option ang pamimigay ng ayuda,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a virtual presser.

Roque said the solution for unemployment is to further reopen the economy, expand the age group allowed to go out of their homes and increase the supply of public transportation

“Ang unang-unang gagawin natin ay pagbubukas ng ekonomiya, expansion ng agre groups na pupwedeng lumabas, at ang pagpaparami pa ng transportasyon,” according to him.

“Meorn din tayong three-pronged strategy para sa economic recovery: Una, ang pagbubukas ng ekonomiya; pangalawa, ang pagpapatupad ng recovery package na nasa Bayanihan 1,2, at 2020, 2021 national budget; pangatlo, yung implementasyon ng vaccine program,” he also said.
