The House of Representatives has approved a measure seeking to declare January 6 of every year as a special non-working holiday in Quezon City in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Melchora Aquino.
The local holiday will be known as Tandang Sora Day.
With 185 affirmative votes, no negative and abstention vote, the House approved House Bill 8958 on third and final reading.
The measure was already transmitted to the Senate, which needs to approve a similar measure before it can be submitted to Malacañang for the President’s signature.
