President Rodrigo Duterte remains in tip-top shape, Malacañang assured the public Thursday.
Spokesman Harry Roque issued the statement after 45 members of Duterte’s close-in security group tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Roque expressed his gratitude to those who voiced their concern and wished the Chief Executive well amid rising Covid-19 cases.
“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains fit and healthy for his age,” the Palace official said.
“We thank the Filipino people for voicing their concern and wishing the Chief Executive’s strength and good health during this time of Covid-19 pandemic as he continues to discharge his functions as head of the government,” he added.
Last night, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar called as “fake news” a now-deleted report by Maharlika TV claiming that Duterte suffered a mild stroke.
Senator Christopher Go in a Facebook post also shared several photos of Duterte working at Malacañang to squelch rumors about his health.
