General PH population could receive a Covid-19 vaccine by August: Galvez

By Prince Golez

The general population could start to get vaccinated by August or September, National Task Force (NTF) chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said.

In a Palace press briefing Thursday, Galvez said the government expects more vaccines to arrive in the country within the second and third quarter of this year.

“Bubuhos po ang ating vaccines this coming June, more or less 9 to 10 million. And then also, lahat ng mga orders po natin ay darating po ng July/August hanggang sa huling buwan,” the country’s vaccine czar said, adding that people belonging to categories A4 and A5 may get Covid-19 shots in two months.

“Iyong ating tinatawag na other targeted adult population o iyong general populace ay baka mag-start na po tayo sa August or September,” he added.

Galvez, meanwhile, said the Philippines has secured around 140 million doses of anti-COVID vaccines this year, excluding those acquired from the COVAX facility.

The government is currently carrying out the simultaneous vaccination of the AI, A2 and A3 priority sectors.
