More hospital beds moderate to severe cases of Covid-19 will be added during the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region and four nearby provinces, Malacañang said.
On Saturday, Spokesman Harry Roque announced that President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force to extend the ECQ classification of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal until April 11.
“Dito po sa linggo ng karagdagang ECQ ay mayroon po tayong 110 additional na moderate to severe beds na bubuksan na po at magiging operational dito po sa Quezon Institute,” said Roque.
The Quezon Institute is a hospital in Quezon City which has an off-site modular hospital for the treatment of moderate Covid-19 cases.
“Bukod pa po ito sa mabubuksan natin na mga additional moderate and severe bed capacity sa susunod na buwan, hindi po bababa iyan sa 160 additional moderate to severe bed capacity,” the secretary added.
As of April 3, the Philippines recorded a total of 784,043 Covid-19 cases, of which 165,715 are active cases and 13,423 died.
