Hindi ramdam: Ping laments no one seems in charge vs COVID gone berserk

It’s bad enough that COVID cases in the Philippines appear to be going berserk. It’s worse that people can’t feel someone is in charge in the government’s response to the threat.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Monday the government appears to be on “autopilot,” adding the situation is “sobrang malas” (too unfortunate).

“The coronavirus has gone berserk. While it is on ‘at-will’ mode, we are like, on autopilot. We can’t feel someone is in charge. Sobrang malas!” Lacson said in a post on his Twitter account.

He also noted he and fellow senators had done what they can to help stop the COVID threat – including exposing and investigating irregularities in the government’s handling of the pandemic.

The Senate had also passed a resolution urging President Rodrigo Duterte to replace Francisco Duque III as health secretary, he pointed out.

“We have repeatedly urged the president to change the crew, or at least the captain, even passed a resolution in this regard; exposed shenanigans in many investigations in almost every aspect of the handling of the pandemic; passed urgent legislations and I don’t know what else,” he said.
