Eat bulaga! Tito Sotto emerges as VP bet to beat as Duterte’s gains decline- Pulse Asia

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has emerged as the top contender in the vice presidential race, with Pulse Asia’s latest voter preference survey showing him edging out President Rodrigo Duterte by 11 points.

Results of the survey released Tuesday (September 29) showed Sotto as the leading vice presidential candidate with a 25 percent voter preference rating. Duterte was a far second with 14 percent.

Tied in third place with 12 percent were former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. Senators Manny Pacquiao and Bong Go trailed behind with seven percent.

Ranked fifth was Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano with six percent, followed by television host Willie Revillame with four percent. Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Senator Sonny Angara and Public Works Secretary Mark Villar all got two percent, Chel Diokno with one percent, while former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro had half of one percent.

Five percent of the survey respondents were undecided or refused to disclose who they will be voting for vice president.

Pulse Asia’s survey was conducted from September 9 to 11 nationwide using face to face interviews with 2,400 respondents. It had a margin of error of plus/minus two percent.

The name of physician Willie Ong, who’s running for vice president alongside Moreno, wasn’t included in the survey.

Sotto is running for vice president with Senator Panfilo Lacson as the presidential candidate.
