The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases will meet on April 27 to discuss the next quarantine classifications of different areas in the country, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said.
On Sunday, Año said the decision to lower or maintain the quarantine level in NCR Plus and other provinces under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) will be tackled on Tuesday.
“Meron kaming pulong na gaganapin, kung hindi ako nagkakamali, ay Tuesday. Doon natin mapag-uusapan ng husto kung ano yung susunod na classification ng NCR Plus at iba pang mga lugar ng kapuluan na under MECQ pa rin tulad ng Abra, Quirino,” Año said in a Dobol B sa News TV interview.
Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Quirino, Abra and Santiago City in Isabela are under MECQ until the end of April.
Año also cited reports by health officials that despite reported increases in Covid-19 cases, the growth of cases in the country has slowed down.
“Ibig sabihin, maganda yung ating trend ngayon. Atsaka, bumaba din ang reproduction number, so maganda iyon,” according to him.
“Kailangan kasi mapababa rin natin yung healthcare utilization rate, katulad ng ICU bed, COVID ward beds, pati yung ating isolation facilities para hindi tayo ma-overwhelm,” he said.
