Na-stroke sa Bilibid: Bong Revilla aide convicted for pork barrel scam dies

Lawyer Richard Cambe, the former chief of staff of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., has died Thursday night (April 8) after suffering from stroke at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muintinlupa City, said Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Deputy Director General Gabriel Chaclag said.

Chaclag said Cambe was still rushed to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa but expired at past 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Chaclag said Cambe’s family has requested privacy after being informed of the lawyer’s passing.

“So we can only confirm that he died of stroke,” Chaclag said.

“Initial investigation also shows no signs of foul play so far,” he added.

Cambe and businesswoman Janette Napoles wwere convicted of plunder by the Sandiganbayana in 2018 over their involvement in the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.

They were both sentenced to reclusion perpetua and ordered to return P124 million to the National Treasury.

On the other hand, the Sandiganbayan acquitted their co-accused, Revilla.

Napoles is currently serving her sentence at the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
