Malacañang on Monday dismissed as “kwentong kutsero” reports that a group of retired and active military generals are withdrawing support for President Rodrigo Duterte following his supposed inaction on China’s continued presence in the West Philippine Sea.
Duterte’s mouthpiece Harry Roque said they believe the military has remained loyal to the Republic.
“Kwentong kutsero lang po yan. Naniniwala kami na lahat ng ating kasundaluhan tapat sa Republika at alam po nila na hindi talaga panahon para sa pulitika ngayon,” Roque said in his televised briefing.
With polling day around the corner, the Palace official also discouraged those who disagree with Duterte’s policies from voting administration candidates in the 2022 elections.
“Isang taon naman po mag e-eleksyon na. Puwede nating halalin ang gusto nating halalin. Kung tingin nila na hindi karapat dapat ang polisiya ng presidente, wag iboto ang maging kandidato ng presidente,” he said.
