Parlade critics can file quo warranto vs NTF-ELCAC spox – Roque

By Prince Golez

Critics of Lt Gen Antonio Parlade Jr, the spokesman for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), may file a quo warranto petition to remove him from office, Malacañang said Friday.

“Kung meron mga talagang sigurado sa kanilang legal position eh magsampa sila ng quo warranto dahil ‘yan naman po ang remedyo,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

On whether the constitutional ban on active military officers from holding a civilian post, Roque thinks it’s “subject to debate.”

“Hindi po malinaw ahil siya naman po’y tumatayong tagapagsalita na kabahagi rin po ang militar dun sa ELCAC. So, pupwedeng nagsasalita siya bilang tagapagsalita rin ng militar na represented po dun sa ELCAC,” he explained.

The Palace official reiterated that it will leave to NTF-ELCAC to decide on calls for the removal of Parlade as the task force’s spokesperson.

Parlade earlier drew flak for his remarks against the organizer of the Maginhawa community pantry, comparing Ana Patricia Non to Satan.

He also previously red-tagged several personalities, anti-terror law petitioners, and the country’s top universities.
