After electrifying its Ghibli luxury sedan, Maserati has now electrified its SUV, the Levante as well. The Levante Hybrid made its global debut at Auto Shanghai, and is revealed to be every bit as high-performance as its Trident badge suggests.
The Levante Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged motor married to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It may not be able to propel the luxury SUV on electric power alone, but it does help to keep its weight down. It weighs less than any of the conventionally powered 6-cylinder variants of the Levante, be it gasoline or diesel. Furthermore, it improves overall weight distribution, and the battery pack doesn’t compromise on its cargo space.
The mid-hybrid system means it can recover energy during deceleration and braking, but it can also act as sort of a booster. With that, the Levante Hybrid offers a combined 330 horsepower. Peak torque is at 450 Nm delivered from just 2,250 rpm. 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 6 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 240 km/h. By comparison, the Levante Hybrid is actually faster the diesel-powered version.
Celebrating the launch of the Levante Hybrid, a special edition model is being done painted in a new metallic tri-coat color called Azzurro Astro. It also carries some recognizable electrified Maserati cues such as the blue tinges on the side air ducts, brake calipers, and C-pillar logo.
The Levante Hybrid also debuts the Maserati Connect—an app-based system which alerts customers on the status of the vehicle as well as when service is due.
The 2022 Levante Hybrid will be available for orders through Maserati Philippines (Modena Motorsports, Inc.).
