Tuloy trabaho! Guevarra: DOJ operational despite ECQ

By James Hernandez

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Monday (April 5) assured the Department of Justice (DOJ) remains operational during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

“May skeletal staff ang DOJ sa frontline service, kaya tuloy naman ang receiving ng papers,” he said.

“Pwede rin ang e-filing,” he added.

Aside from this, Guevarra also assured that the he will be also lenient in the 15-day deadline for the fling of petitions for review that are filed before his office.

“But we’ll be very lenient on deadlines,” he said.

“We understand,” he added.

Petitions for review is a remedy sought by parties who disagree with the resolutions released by prosecutors over cases that underwent preliminary investigation.

Guevarra said the parties need only file motions seeking the extension of deadlines for the filing of petitions for review.

The government declared the imposition of ECQ over Metro Manila and nearby provinces to address the rise in COVID-19 virus cases.
