Back to Batasan for SONA? House aims to vaccinate all employees by July 26

The House of Representatives plans to inoculate all its employees before the last State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte on July 26.

Bataan Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III, head of the House CongVax Program said 1,600 employees and their families have been vaccinated since May 11.

Garcia said those who have been vaccinated belong to the A2 and A3 priority groups.

The vaccination program took a pause two weeks ago after the House consumed all the vaccines sent to them by the government.

“Nawalan na ng suplay after the first week kasi yun lang po yung pinadala ng ating national government pero may mga dumating na po muli kaya nakapagpatuloy na tayo. I think the first week mga 400 yung nabakunahan natin ngayon umabot na sa 1,600,” said Garcia.

The House plans to vaccinate 25,000 employees and their families.

“Talagang dependent kami sa arrival nung ating mga procured vaccine. As long as dumating yun naka-ready kami para mag-vaccinate nung ating mga employees,” Garcia added. Before tayo may-SONA which is the opening of the third regular session ay nabakunahan na lahat ng mga empleyado and their dependents.”

The House has secured Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine for its vaccination program. The vaccines are expected to arrive in June or July.
