Assistant Minority Leader and Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Arlene Brosas was unfazed with more than a dozen witnesses unloaded by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) to disqualify them in the 2022 elections.
Brosas believed that the NTF-ELCAC “desperately” want to distract and pester Gabriela with witnesses before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) “at a time when we are actively seeking for the inclusion of significant cash aid and subsidy for Filipinos reeling from Duterte’s failed pandemic response.”
Comelec 2nd Division on Tuesday conducted a hearing on NTF-ELCAC’s petition to cancel the registration of Gabriela.
Gabriela maintained that NTF-ELCAC’s allegations regarding foreign funding and advocacy of violence are “baseless and fabricated”.
“But we, along with the Filipino women and people, will not be afraid to go head-to-head with this vicious red-tagging machinery.
