Close sa simbahan: 30% capacity now allowed for religious gatherings in GCQ areas

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Friday (May 21) that that 30 percent capacity in religious gatherings has been allowed in the National Capital Region (NCR)and other areas placed under general community quarantine

“At its regular meeting yesterday the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases), with the full support of the Metro Manila mayors, granted the request of the churches to allow religious gatherings up to 30% of venue capacity in the NCR+ and other areas under the heightened GCQ until 31 May 2021,” he said.

Guevarra earlier admitted that, when NCR and other areas were placed under GCQ, it should have also increased the capacities of religious gatherings.

“It was just a case of plain oversight, I believe,” he said.

This was eventually observed by the religious sector and brought to the attention of the IATF for action.

NCR and other areas previously placed under the much stricter modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) was placed under a more relaxed GCQ last May 15.
