Deliks pa! Palace not yet keen on allowing fully vaccinated seniors to leave homes

Malacañang on Friday thumbed down the proposal to allow senior citizens fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to go out of their homes at any time.

“Alam niyo po pinagbawal natin ang presensya ng mga seniors sa mga malls kasi sila po yung pinaka-susceptible, namamatay dahil sa Covid-19. Tried and tested na po yan,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a Laging Handa briefing.

Roque was reacting to the statement of lawyer and senior citizen rights advocate Romulo Macalintal to relax the Covid-19 restrictions on elderly people.

The government will study the proposal once the Philippines has fully vaccinated all seniors, according to the Palace official.

“Antayin po muna natin na talagang tuluyung ma vaccinate na ang lahat ng mga seniors at pag-aaralan naman po natin kung pupuwede na,” he said.

“Ang problema kasi, ang vaccination hindi 100 percent guarantee. Guarantee lang po yan na hindi ma-ospital o hindi mamatay dahil sa Covid-19. Sa ngayon po, let us become homeliners, mga seniors,” added Roque.
