Done with draft: DOJ, DILG to sign rules on arrest of protocol violators

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will sign this Friday (May 28) the rules on the arrest of persons violating health protocols, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Thursday (May 27)

Guevarra disclosed this after the DOJ finished the draft of the rules and submitted it to DILG Sec. Eduardo Ano.

“I have just been informed that DILG Sec. Ano has agreed in principle to approve the joint guidelines on arrest, detention, and investigation of health protocol violators as drafted by the DOJ,” he said.

“Subject to a few minor tweaks, these guidelines will be ready for signing by Friday,” he added.

The DOJ drafted the guidelines upon the order of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte earlier issued directive to the police to arrest those who are not wearing or improperly wearing face masks.
