President Rodrigo Duterte has directed the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to supervise the rollout of Covid-19 vaccine among localities.
The DILG should be part of the “supervisory team” to ensure the proper management of vaccines, Duterte told vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.
“Wala akong problema yan diretso sa local governments. Ang problema ko is yung handling. There is always the time of the essence so there has to be a time frame for that, for everything, from handling to the transfer,” the Chief Executive said during his televised speech aired on PTV-4 early Tuesday.
“Gusto ko malaman rin ni (Interior) Secretary (Eduardo) Año if everything is done according to what has been planned. Pag-aralan anong plano dito and they can point out if there’s a lot of whatever in the handling and the observance of rules to ensure the integrity of the vaccines.
“It would also be the obligation of the DILG to not oversee but just to supervise para tignan nila kung ano ang pagkukulang so that it would be reported immediately,” he added.
Año is also the vice chairperson of the National Task Force against Covid-19.
