Gov’t allows 30% capacity for church services in NCR

By Prince Golez

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases has increased capacity for religious events in Metro Manila.

On Friday, Malacañang announced that the IATF allowed religious gatherings in the National Capital Region (NCR) under the “heightened” general community quarantine to fill up venues up to 30 percent of their seating capacity.

“Nagpulong ang inyong IATF kahapon kung saan nagsabi ang Metro Manila Council na pinapayagan ng mga mayors ng NCR ang religious gatherings sa 30 percent venue capacity,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a Laging Handa briefing.

Churches were previously allowed to accommodate up to 10 percent of venue capacity.

Roque said local government units are given the discretion to increase the venue capacity of religious gatherings, provided that these would not exceed the maximum capacity.
