The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases has reverted Iloilo City to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) starting today, May 23.
This, after Mayor Jerry Treñas appealed that Iloilo City be placed under MECQ from modified general community quarantine, citing the surge of Covid-19 cases in the city.
“As it is hereby resolved, that upon the appeal of the local government unit, the risk-level classification of Iloilo City shall be escalated to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine beginning May 23, 2021, until May 31, 2021,” the IATF said in Resolution No. 116-C signed on Saturday.
Upon the recommendations of the Screening and Validation Committee, the government’s Covid-19 task force said Apayao, Benguet, and Cagayan will also retain their MECQ classification until the end of the month.
“The risk-level classification of the aforementioned provinces and highly urbanized cities shall be without prejudice to their further reclassification as may be warranted and the declaration of localized Enhanced Community Quarantine in critical areas,” the resolution read.
