The national government has extended the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the provinces of Apayao, Benguet, and Cagayan until May 31.
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases earlier reverted the quarantine status of Cagayan, Apayao and Benguet to MECQ until May 23 amid soaring Covid-19 cases.
“Upon the recommendations of the Screening and Validation Committee, Apayao, Benguet, and Cagayan shall retain their risk-level classification of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine until May 31, 2021,” IATF Resolution No. 116-C read.
The Task Force also heeded to the appeal of Iloilo City to place the city under MECQ also due to the spike in Covid-19 cases.
“The risk-level classification of the aforementioned provinces and highly urbanized cities shall be without prejudice to their further reclassification as may be warranted and the declaration of localized Enhanced Community Quarantine in critical areas,” the reso also stated.
