Members of the Makabayan bloc have jointly filed a resolution urging the House of Representatives to express its strong condemnation of the unwarranted Israeli attacks in Gaza.
In House Resolution 1789, Bayan Muna Representatives Carlos Isagani Zarate, Ferdinand Gaite and Eufemia Cullamat, ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro, Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas and Kabataan Rep. Sara Jane Elago also urged the “Philippine government to join the strong condemnation of the violations and aggressions of the Israeli government that have killed, injured, and caused unmeasurable suffering for the suffering for the Palestinian people.”
On May 7, Palestinian protesters and Israeli police clashed outside the Old City of Jerusalem. More than 170 Palestinians and Israeli police were injured.
On May 10, more than 300 Palestinian protesters were injured when Israeli forces stormed the al-Aqsa compound.
Palestinian militants said they fired missiles at Tel Aviv after an Israeli air raid destroyed the al-Sharouk tower in Gaza City.
The attacks from both camps continued and as of May 14, the death toll in Gaza reportedly climbed to 126 including 31 children and 950 were injured while eight civilians and one soldier died in Israel.
