BHW Rep. Angelica Natasha Co urged the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against COVID-19 and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to increase to 50% the allowed capacity of barbershops, parlors and wellness spas from the current 30%.
Co also requested the Department of Health (DOH) to publicly disclose data showing that personal care establishments are hotbeds of COVID spread.
She said it is unfair to the barbershops, beauty parlors, and wellness spas “that they are treated so unjustly with severe restrictions without presenting the hard data justifying those capacity restrictions.”
“Until now, the health and LGU authorities have yet to show proof of COVID spread and contamination directly linked to the barber shops, beauty parlors, and wellness spas,” she added.
