Priority for those with comorbidities: House to start COVID-19 vaccination for employees

The House of Representatives has come up with the list of officials and employees who are qualified under the category A3 priority group or individuals with comorbidities.

According to the Memorandum issued by House Secretary General Mark Llandro Mendoza individuals under category A3 are required to submit a Medical Clearance as basis for assessment of doctors assigned at the vaccination station.

A medical clearance refers to an authorization from an evaluating doctor that a patient is cleared or deemed healthy enough for a proposed procedure in this case COVID-19 vaccination.

The vaccination for category A3 will be done this month but the exact date has yet to be fixed.

It was learned that those qualified under A3 will be given CoronaVac, the vaccine manufactured by Chinese firm Sinovac Biotech.

Earlier, HREP Congvax head and Bataan Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III said the House will purchase 60,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Novavax, a US-based from. The vaccines may arrive late June or July.

In January Novavax announced that the clinical trials conducted in Britain involving 15,000 adults showed 89.3% efficacy. The company is also conducting clinical trials on children.

Novavax has yet to secure an emergency use authorization from the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
