Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo doesn’t see social media as an accurate barometer of voters’ preference in the run up to the 2022 elections.
In an interview on One News’ “The Chiefs” Tuesday (May 25), Panelo said Vice President Leni Robredo would have a better ranking in pre-election surveys if the social media hype for her reflected voters’ sentiments.
“Kung totoo yung socmed (social media) sumasalamin sa reality on the ground politically speaking, dapat sa survey magli-lead, number one si VP Leni,” he said.
“Eh [number] one si Sara, kulelat si Leni. Ibig sabihin ‘yung mga in-interview sa survey, ito yung mga nakinabang sa proyekto ng gobyerno,” Panelo added.
Pulse Asia’s latest voter preference survey showed Duterte as the presidential candidate to beat while Robredo ranked sixth.
The Vice President has yet to announce her political plans, though she is reportedly weighing whether to run for president or a local post.
