Trillanes finds hints of Robredo’s ‘preparations’ to run for CamSur governor

Will she run for a local post or not?

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is convinced that Vice President Leni Robredo may be preparing to join the gubernatorial race in Camarines Sur next year.

Trillanes said Robredo has transferred residence outside Naga City based on news reports, an indication about her political plans.

The former senator commented on Robredo’s 2022 ambition after her camp denied she was eyeing to run for government in her home province. Robredo’s spokesman, Atty. Barry Guitierrez, earlier said the veep was still open to a possible presidential bid next year.

“I don’t want to argue with Atty. Barry Gutierrez and Cong Teddy Baguilat, but it was reported in the local news and VP herself has confirmed that she transferred residence outside Naga City, which is part of the PREPARATIONS to run for Governor in CamSur,” Trillanes tweeted on May 14, 2021.

Trillanes has announced his interest to run for president in next year’s polls. But his presidential bid will depend if Robredo won’t seek the highest post of the land.

“By the way, I never said that VP Leni already decided to run for Governor. In fact, it is very clear in my statement that I would give way to her in case she finally decides to run for President,” he said.

Robredo, in a previous media interview, said she was open to the possibility of her running for president in the 2022 polls, but she preferred to run for local office.

She recently applied for a national identification card at the registration office in Magarao town, not in Naga City where she is a registered voter.

Robredo, as a resident of Naga City an independent component city, is not eligible to vote nor run for any provincial post in Camarines Sur.
