Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente warned illegally working foreigners in the country that they will continue to run after them despite the ongoing COVID-19 virus pandemic.
“Despite the pandemic, our intelligence teams are actively investigating reports of illegal aliens staying in our country,” he said in a statement.
“We urge foreign nationals to legitimize their stay here in the country, lest they face expulsion and blacklisting,” he advised.
Morente gave the warning after the BI arrested last June 16 15 illegal aliens who were caught working as warehouse workers in Bacoor, Cavite.
“Our operatives saw 15 foreigners working in different warehouses in the area,” he said.
“Upon verification of their documents, it was found that 10 of them had working visas petitioned by a different company,” he added.
Morente said all 15 will be subjected to deportation proceedings due to clear violations of immigration laws.
