Early bird: Gibo Teodoro seeks support for possible 2022 bid via Facebook

Former Defense Secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro seems to be gearing up for the upcoming elections as he took to social media to seek public support for a possible electoral bid.

In a Facebook video, Teodoro thanked people who supported him in his 2010 presidential bid, and now asked for the same support in his latest journey.

Teodoro, a lawyer and pilot, did not disclose the post he would seek in next year’s polls in his last social media post. The former Cabinet member however earlier said he was open to running for vice president if Mayor Sara Duterte will seek the presidency in the 2022 polls.

“Hindi ko nakakalimutan ang inyong kabaitan sa akin. At ngayon po, kinakailangan na naman siguro natin na magsama-sama para sa kinabukasan at kaligtasan ng ating bansa kaya hinihikayat ko na naman magsama-sama na naman kayo,” Teodoro said.

Teodoro offered a glimpse of his platform, saying he is still pushing for positive and lasting reforms to strengthen the country.

“Alam naman ninyo na hindi nagbabago ang ating layunin ng positibo at pangmatagalang reporma upang tumatag ang ating bansa,” he said.

He said positivity is also important as the country grapples with the pandemic. “Meron tayong pandemiya kaya kailangan na lalong-lalo na positibo ang mensahe natin para maengganyo ang ating mga kababayan para maituro sila sa tunay na pagbabago.”

Before ending his video, Teodoro asked his supporters will continue to rally behind him in his new journey.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat at sana magkita-kita tayo muli at samahan ninyo ako sa paglalakbay na ito,” he said.

Teodoro’s video has been posted on GIBO PH’s Facebook page with the hashtag #Gibo2022. It was shared on Teodoro’s account too.

Teodoro, standard bearer of Lakas-CMD party, placed fourth in the 2010 presidential polls. His cousin, then Senator Benigno Aquino III, won the presidential race then. Teodoro has stayed away from politics since his loss in the 2010 elections and recently became active in backing Mayor Sara’s potential presidential run.
