President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to order the arrest of Filipinos who refuse to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

In his televised address late Monday, Duterte urged reluctant Filipinos to receive their Covid-19 vaccine.

“There is a crisis being faced in this country. There is a national emergency. Kung ayaw mong magpabakuna, ipaaresto kita,” the country’s chief executive said.

“I have to sequester you in jail. Mamili kayo: magpabakuna kayo o ipakulong ko kayo sa selda?” he added.

Duterte said he will order the village chiefs to identify those who don’t want to get the vaccine.

“For as long as you are here and you are a human being, and can carry the virus, eh magpabakuna ka,” according to him.

“Otherwise, I will order all the barangay captains to have a tally of the people who refuse to be vaccinated. Kasi ‘pag hindi ‘yong Ivermectin na para sa baboy ang ipatira ko sa iyo. Ayon patay talaga pati ikaw,” he also said.
