Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas criticized Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Tuesday (June 22) for blaming Ilonggos’ supposed lack of discipline for the spike in COVID-19 cases in their area.
In an interview on One News’ “Sa Totoo Lang,” Treñas said Roque should be proactive in helping Iloilo City instead of playing the blame game.
“Mas mabilis ang bunganga niya sa utak niya. I think as an intelligent person, dapat mauna ang utak mo sa bunganga mo. Instead of helping Iloilo City, he’s blaming Ilonggos. What kind of Secretary are you?” he asked.
Treñas said he had planned on helping Roque should the latter run for senator next year, but recent events made him “ambivalent about the whole situation.”
The mayor also expressed dismay over the unequitable vaccine distribution, noting that Quezon City had received 600,000 vaccine doses for a population of three million, while the Western Visayas region—where Iloilo City is located— got 300,000 doses for eight million people.
