The remark of Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III that Senator Manny Pacquiao makes a “good” presidential candidate was just his personal opinion, Malacañang said.
“’Yan po ay personal na paninidigan ni Senator Koko Pimentel,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing Monday.
On Pimentel’s statement that he’s not supporting the resolution egging President Rodrigo Duterte to run for vice president next year, Roque said he’s leaving the matter to be resolved by the ruling PDP-Laban.
“Unless make-claim niya na siya ang nagmamay-ari ng PDP-Laban, kinakailangang konsultahin ang buong partido. We leave that to PDP-Laban,” he also said.
Last month, the PDP-Laban national council adopted a resolution urging Duterte to join the vice presidential race and enjoining him to choose his running mate in the 2022 national elections.
Pacquiao is currently the party president while Pimentel sits as executive vice chairman.
