House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero and JV Ejercito are eyeing a Senate comeback next year, according to Senate President Tito Sotto, a stalwart of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
The three former senators are members of the NPC.
“Loren is NPC, Escudero never left, he is on leave… JV is a member of NPC,” Sotto told reporters in a Zoom interview.
Asked if they already made any decision about their plans for the 2022 elections, Sotto said: “They will run for the Senate.”
The Senate leader said the prospective return of Escudero, Legarda and Ejercito boded well for the chamber.
“Malaking bagay yun kasi magbabalik ang mga veterans,” he said.
Sotto said another prospective Senate returnee is Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gringo Honasan.
“As of now that’s what I’ve heard. (Honasan) is independent but he can be adopted (by NPC),” he said.
