#Respect! Gabriela offers free SOGIE seminars to Grab drivers after BTS gaffe

Gabriela Women’s Party is willing to give free SOGIE webinars to Grab Philippines following the backlash of BTS fans over homophobic remarks of its drivers.

“While homophobia and discriminatory remarks are wrong, Grab drivers should not be made sacrificial lambs following the ARMY backlash. The company can embrace inclusivity through SOGIE education, which we are willing to offer for free, instead of imposing suspension for the implicated workers,” said Gabriela Women’s Party Secretary General KJ Catequista.

Catequista said the move of BTS fans to call out gender-based discrimination is correct.

“It is Grab’s response to the issue which requires a careful reexamination,” Catequista added.

Catequista said Grab’s move to suspend its drivers for at least five days would mean lost incomes for their families.

Recently, screenshots of Grab drivers’ Facebook comments with “BTS biot” remarks were leaked, prompting boycott Grab calls from BTS fans in the country.

Mc Donald’s is offering BTS meals.
