Sotto seeks end to mandatory face shields; Duterte backs hospital use only

President Duterte is supportive of the removal of face shields when people go outdoors.

Senate President Tito Sotto said the President was in favor of the use of face shields in hospitals instead.

“Last night, the President agreed that face shields should only be used in hospitals,” Sotto tweeted on June 17, 2021.

With the President’s stance, Sotto asked the health department to consider allowing the public to ditch the face shields.

“Allowed us to remove ours! Attn DOH!” the Senate leader said.

The government has required the public to wear face shields whenever going of their houses as an added protection against the coronavirus disease. The country continued to see a surge in coronavirus cases despite the health regulations imposed by the government.
