After a year of vacancy: Palace appoints 20 municipal trial judges-at-large

After more than a year since the Supreme Court (SC) opened the positions, Malacanang has finally filled 20 seats for municipal trial-judge at-large.

The SC Public Information Office (SCPIO) said that the tribunal received last Thursday (July 17) of 20 municipal trial judge-at-large that has been approved by President Duterte.

The high court opened back in January last year the 20 positions.

The SC had explained that udges -at-large “may be temporarily assigned by the Supreme Court as Acting or Assisting Judge to any of the lower courts as public interest may require and for such length of time as may be determined by the Supreme Court.”

Among the 20 judges-at-large, 10 will be assigned in Luzon, while, Visayas and Mindanao will get five each.
