Palace vows swift vaccination of all medical frontliners: ‘Di aabot ng isang buwan

By Prince Golez

It won’t take a month for all medical frontliners in the country to receive the first batch of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines, Malacañang said.

In a Dobol B sa News TV interview Sunday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the 117,000 initial doses of Pfizer vaccines from the COVAX facility will be administered to medical frontliners, the first in the government’s vaccine queue.

“Inaasahan po natin na sa buong linggo nito, sa buong buwan na darating eh at least lahat ng medical frontliners atsaka mga immediate na may priority ay nasimulan na,” according to Roque.

“Definitely hindi po aabot ng isang buwan para matapos natin ang lahat ng medical frontliners,” he also said.

The Palace official noted that another 5 million doses of vaccine from AstraZeneca are also expected to arrive in the Philippines this month.

“Inaasahan po natin na lahat po nung mga nasa paunang frontliners natin na mahigit kumulang mga 1.4 million, lahat naman po yan mabibigyan kasi 5 million mahigit yung Astrazeneca na darating din also within the month,” said Roque.

Aside from medical frontliners, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and frontline personnel in essential sectors will also be offered the first doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
