Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III won’t win a local elective post in his hometown of Cagayan de Oro, President Rodrigo Duterte said.
According to Duterte, Pimentel will lose even in barangay elections.
The Chief Executive made the statement during his speech at the National Assembly of the ruling PDP-Laban party in Pampanga Saturday.
“They (Koko and his father, former Senate President Nene Pimentel) are not even recognized in Cagayan de Oro City. Totoo ‘yan. I am not trying to throw an insult pero ‘yan ang totoo talaga,” said Duterte.
“They cannot win. Magtakbo ‘yang si Koko maski barangay captain, talo ‘yan sa kanila. Wala eh,” he added.
Prior to this, the President reminded Koko that PDP-Laban, the political party which his father founded, was “asleep for a hundred years” until he ran for president in 2016.
