Duterte to Pinoys: Consider me for vice presidency

President Rodrigo Duterte wants the public to consider him as a vice presidential candidate in the 2022 national elections.

Duterte made the statement in a speech during the inauguration of the LRT-2 East Extension Project in Antipolo City, Rizal on Thursday.

“Maybe at this time you can say that, maybe para to maintain the equilibrium sa lahat, consider me a candidate for the vice-presidency at this time,” the country’s chief executive said.

He, however, said that his floated vice presidential bid was just for “political posturing” to avoid being a “lame duck” in his last year in office.

“You would know what is a lame duck. Kaya ikaw, hindi ka talaga papayag na maging s*** ka rin, so nandito ka. You try to… Posturing ‘yan eh. Political posturing so that they would not treat you badly kasi paalis na ako eh,” said Duterte.

Last May, the ruling PDP-Laban adopted a resolution to convince the President to run for vice president next year and choose his running mate.
