President Rodrigo Duterte said he’s trying his “very best” to stop corruption in government offices.
“I’ve been trying really my very best to curb corruption. Hindi ko maalis ‘yan overnight,” Duterte told executives of the ruling PDP-Laban and other government officials Tuesday.
The President said he made “a little progress” in firing corrupt employees, adding that he could not simply abolish offices.
“Starting from the DPWH, I went to the Customs then eventually sa ‘yong ‘pastillas’. And the very thing that really pissed me off was the Filipinos who were being framed up by itong ‘laglag-bala’ sa airport,” according to him.
Duterte noted that he’s also reduced the processing time of business transactions and other government services.
“Alam ninyo na basta isang pagkakamali lang, lalo na sabi ko na permits. Basta regulatory, iyan ang pera na bantay kayo diyan. The less regulation that we can impose upon the people, the better. Many regulations, many signatures needed, and the opportunity for corruption is there,” he said.
