Duterte wants Tugade to run for Senate: ‘Sayang ka’

President Rodrigo Duterte urged Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to run for senator in the 2022 national elections.

“I hope that you consider running for senator of the Republic of the Philippines. Sayang ka. Nanghihinayang ako sa inyo,” Duterte said in a pre-recorded speech that aired late Wednesday.

He praised Tugade for a job well done as transportation chief.

“Tignan mo ang nagawa ni Secretary Tugade, more than the achievements of the past administrations, three administrations combined. Kita mo yung natapos niya. If only one puts their heart to it, talagang kayang gawin,” according to the President.

“Sayang kung mawala ka. I hope that the people, I will not say more than just necessary, pero nasasayangan talaga ako. I think the country really needs you badly sa mga proyektong it always ends up in corruption,” added Duterte.
