Malacañang on Thursday defended the decision of the government’s Covid-19 task force to not require fully-vaccinated travelers a negative swab test result.
Allowing vaccinated citizens to travel was a “way of incentivizing,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.
“It was decided na because you are fully vaccinated, as a way of incentivizing. At saka ang siyensa naman diyan ‘pag nabakunahan ka na eh ang probability na magkakasakit ka ng malala is almost none. Yes, you could still catch it pero the probability is also not a 100% anymore,” according to Roque.
“Wala naman talagang 100% guarantee. Ang PCR test naman talaga kapag ginamit din ‘yan, if at the time you took it hindi ka pa reactive, then, you will be negative, but you don’t know when it will actually surface,” he added.
Earlier, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases released Resolution No. 124-5 only requiring fully vaccinated individuals to present their vaccination card when traveling within the Philippines.
A fully vaccinated individual refers to a person who has more than or equal to two weeks after having received the second dose in a two-dose vaccine; or more than or equal to two weeks after having received a single-dose vaccine.
