Malacañang on Thursday downplayed the report of the Ateneo School of Governance (Asog) that the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte failed to achieve its target of addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the study came no longer a surprise.
“Hindi na po kami nagugulat, Ateneo po ‘yan,” Roque also said.
Asog’s “Social Development Reform in the Duterte Administration” report claimed that the government failed to provide a more responsive approach to the Covid-19 health crisis and flatten the pandemic curve.
Researchers attributed this to the government’s choice of leaders to lead the fight against the virus.
“They should have chosen more doctors and health specialists,” according to political and development analysts Carmel Abao.
