Palace on Trillanes’ ‘bangag’ remark vs Duterte: ‘That’s gutter talk’

By Prince Golez

Malacañang would rather not make a comment on the latest statement of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV that President Rodrigo Duterte seemed to be “high” and spaced out during his recent public address.

In his virtual presser Wednesday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said they would not respond to what he viewed as a “gutter talk” from Trillanes, a staunch critic of Duterte and the administration.

“Hindi po iyan galing sa tao na dapat sinasagot. Wala pong kuwenta iyong tao na pinag-aral ng taumbayan na hindi po nirirespeto ang opisina ng Presidente,” according to Roque.

“Puwede po tayong magdebate sa issue pero kung ganiyan lang naman po, hindi na po pinapansin iyan. That’s gutter talk and we will not respond to it,” he also said.

Last week, Trillanes alleged that Duterte and Senator Christopher Go plundered P6 billion worth of government projects.

The President, for his part, likened the ex-senator to Senator Manny Pacquiao, who had claimed that the present government was more corrupt than its predecessor, saying both men wanted to “hold power.”
