President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday regarded the bilateral relationship between Japan and the Philippines as a “gift of timeless value.”
Duterte made the statement in celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Japan.
“As I have said time and again, Japan is a friend closer than a brother. Only a handful of our bilateral relationships have been as deeply transformative as the one we have with Japan,” the country’s chief executive said in a message.
The President expressed confidence that the Philippine’s strategic partnership with Japan will continue to strengthen and deepen their people-to-people linkages.
“In celebrating the 65th Anniversary of our diplomatic ties, let us honor the legacy of the extraordinary relationship between our country and Japan,” said Duterte.
“Our shared future remains bright and the horizon continues to ever expand. There are many promises that can still be fulfilled,” he concluded.
